The basic requirements for the means of storing scientific and technical documentation and its arrangement, modes of document storage, topography do not have specific features and are similar to those set forth in the State Standard of the Republic of Kazakhstan "Documents on paper carriers. General technical requirements for archival storage".

Depending on the equipment and formats of drawings, scientific and technical documentation can be stored in expanded, folded or other form. Graphic scientific and technical documentation is stored in folders with valves in folded format A 4 form. The folder includes no more than 50 sheets of A 4, not more than 4 cm thick.
Graphic scientific and technical documentation can be made on tracing paper, paper, astralon, film, cambric, blueprint. Drawings on the paper, astralon, film are not folded (for permanent storage in the state archive are transmitted in tubes).

Textual scientific and technical documentation is filed in the cover of cardboard or similarly dense material or intertwined. In one case it is allowed to include no more than 250 sheets. The thickness of the case should not exceed 5 cm. It is allowed to store cripples, blueprints and maps in folders, boxes or tubes.
Text and graphic scientific and technical documentation is stored on the shelves in archival boxes or bundles. In addition, graphic scientific and technical documentation can be stored in expanded form in retractable metal boxes.

As for the terms of storage of NTDs that are in private hands, they are not established by the legislation and, as a rule, the company independently decides on the storage or destruction of this category of documents.

At the same time, some of these documents may be of scientific and historical value to the state and be included in the National Archival Fund. In this case, the documents must be processed and transferred for permanent storage to the state archive.
